And I don't get why people seem to think the editions are overpriced...
You've got the standard one for $59.99 for just the game. Can't argue with that.
A step up from that is the $79.99 limited edition which comes with the game, the Halsey journal, a Spartan patch and Dr. Halsey's ONI badge, special Elite armor, and of course, it comes in a cool, little box. Now, I'd say Halsey's journal and the game themselves would justify the price of the limited edition because I'm guessing a retail price for the journal would be about $19.99 (if not more). Still, you have the other extras in there which I would modestly price at about $9.99. So, I'd say you're saving about $10 with the limited edition!
Then there's the legendary edition which comes with the game and all of the goodies from the limited edition but in a different, cooler-looking box. So, automatically, that's about $90 of stuffs according to my pricing. On top of that you have McFarlane statue and the flaming head armor piece. The armor doesn't justify the extra $60 dollars, but...the statue does. I really wish it was made by Weta, but McFarlane does make excellent Halo action figures to begin with. A normal McFarlane Halo action figure runs around $20. Even though the statue is a bit smaller than the action figures and the Spartans cannot articulate, you have five unique Spartans together in one piece, and each statute is individually molded, hand-painted, and numbered by a McFarlane artisan. Oh, and don't forget, the statues are also limited... So, I'd say if the statues were sold individually, they probably go for quite a lot and maybe up to $100.

Yeah everything sounds about right. I wouldn't get too excited about the flaming helmet though. Yeah it will look cool, but honestly your head will glow really bright and you will be an easy kill for Sniper/DMR/Needle Rifle/Pistol lovers. Yeah the statue may be cool, but how nice can they really be? They have to make as many as reserves they get so if 5 million people reserved the Legendary edition, they have to make 5 million statues/boxes etc. It will most likely be just like Modern Warfares prestige edition. The night goggles looked state of the art but they were just a piece of shit, I love how so many people thought that they were getting thousand dollar night vision goggles. How stupid are these people.

I don't know about the MW2 goggles but...
According to Bungie's 04/23/10 Weekly Update (http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&link=BWU_042310)...
Some people have postulated that this sucker really won’t be all that exclusive, hearkening back to the Halo 3 cat helmet from yesteryear that hit retail shelves in mass quantities. Microsoft is ensuring us that they won’t be going down that path this time out, noting that the Legendary Edition will truly only available in a limited run and that they fully expect all copies to be spoken for at launch.
And more from the Bungie post about the editions of the game (http://www.bungie.net/News/content.aspx?type=topnews&cid=25773)...
The Legendary edition, which will be produced in very limited quantities, is designed for the Halo fan who has to have it all. The centerpiece is a collectible 10 inch tall, more than 10 pound statue of Noble Team, created by the acclaimed designers at McFarlane Toys.
Noble Team statue expertly crafted by the artisans at McFarlane Toys. Individually molded, hand-painted and individually numbered, this statuette is a must have for any serious Halo fan
And of course, the beautiful beautiful statue itself!

It seems to be a fine, quite limited product.
Still wish it was made by Weta though...:(
